MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617011620 A) filed by Hyundai Motor Company; and Kia Corporation, Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Feb. 3, for 'image encoding/decoding method and device, and recording medium on which bitstream is stored.'
Inventor(s) include Choi, Jungah; Heo, Jin; and Park, Seung Wook.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An image encoding/decoding method and device, a recording medium on which a bitstream is stored, and a transmission method are provided. The image decoding method comprises the steps of: determining an intra prediction mode of the current block as a template based intra prediction mode derivation (TIMD) mode; determining a first intra prediction mode and a second intra prediction mode of the current block on the basis of the current template, which includes a reference sample adjacent to the current block, from among a plurality of candidate intra prediction modes; deriving a first prediction block of the current block on the basis of the first intra prediction mode; deriving a second prediction block of the current block on the basis of the second intra prediction mode; deriving a third prediction block of the current block on the basis of a predetermined intra prediction mode; and deriving a final prediction block of the current block on the basis of a weighted sum of the first prediction block, the second prediction block and the third prediction block, wherein the plurality of candidate intra prediction mode includes an intra prediction mode for generating a prediction block of the current block on the basis of a block vector of the current block, and the block vector of the current block exhibits precision in units of integer pixels or sub-pixels."
The patent application was internationally filed on Aug. 28, 2024, under International application No.PCT/KR2024/012873.
