MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517084194 A) filed by Lg Electronics Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Sept. 4, for 'image encoding/decoding method, method for transmitting bitstream, and recording medium having bitstream stored therein.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided are an image encoding/decoding method, a bitstream transmission method, and a computer-readable recording medium storing a bitstream. The image decoding method performed by an image decoding apparatus, according to the present disclosure, comprises the steps of: acquiring at least one piece of motion information regarding the current block to which a geometry partitioning mode (GPM) is applied; on the basis of a neighboring region of at least one reference block indicated by the motion information and a neighboring region of the current block, deriving compensation information related to compensation of the reference block; and generating prediction blocks of the current block on the basis of the compensation information."
