MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517064569 A) filed by Saint-Gobain Sekurit France, Thourotte, France, on July 7, for 'illuminated glazing element with a coated reflective structure for coupling in light.'

Inventor(s) include Nielsen, Tobias; and De Meyer, Christy Valerie.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an illuminated glazing element, comprising a transparent layer (2, 7) with a first surface (III, i) and a second surface (IV, ii) and comprising a light source (5) for generating light, said light source being arranged such that the light is irradiated into the transparent layer (2, 7) via the second surface (IV, ii), wherein a reflective structure with a reflective surface (8, 11) is formed in the first surface (III, i) or is secured to the first surface (III, i), and the reflective surface (8, 11) has a plurality of sections which are inclined towards the second surface (IV, ii) and is configured such that the light irradiated into the transparent layer (2, 7) is reflected on the reflective surface (8, 11) and is at least partly coupled back into the transparent layer (2, 7) at a coupling-in angle which is suitable for diffusing the coupled light in the transparent layer (2, 7), in particular by means of a total reflection on the first surface (IIII, i) and the second surface (IV, ii). The reflective surface (8, 11) is provided with a reflective coating (20) which comprises, in the following order starting from the reflective surface (8, 11): - a primer layer (21) and - a reflective layer (22) based on a metal or a metal alloy."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 18, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/078902.
