MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073223 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology And Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, on Sept. 27, 2024, for 'hydroxy benzimidazole dicyano phenyl vinyls, photophysical studies and their preparation thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Addy Partha Sarathi; Ghosh Saurajit; and Maan Sakshi.
The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE) active solid-state fluorescent luminogen molecules (5a-c) hydroxy Benzimidazole dicyano phenyl vinyls (OH BIDCPVs) and a simple two-step condensation reaction process for their preparation. The prepared compounds are regio isomers, the ortho isomer (5a), has the capability to show the ESIPT (excited state intramolecular proton transfer) phenomena and being an AIE active molecule, shows the ESIPT + AIE active turn-on fluorescence signal. The OH BIDCPVs are stable at higher temperatures, photostable and are anticancer agents."
