MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511115680 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on Nov. 22, 2025, for 'hydrophobic transition metal oxide functionalized alloy material and process of preparation thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Rai, Prince Kumar; Gupta, Ankur; and Singh, Amritanshu.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a hydrophobic transition metal oxide functionalized alloy material and a process for preparation thereof. More specifically, the present invention relates to a hydrophobic zinc oxide (ZnO) functionalized nickel-cobalt (Ni-Co) alloy material. The process of preparation of the hydrophobic transition metal oxide utilizes pulse electrodeposition to fabricate microtubes of Ni-Co alloy, which offers a better precision, a better control over thickness, and a structural integrity to the microtubes of the Ni-Co alloy without distortion or defects, and an integration of a hydrophobic nanostructured ZnO in form selected from nanorods, nanowires, nanospheres, and nanoflowers on the surface of the microtubes of the Ni-Co alloy, not only enhances the surface area of the microtubes of the Ni-Co alloy, but also synergistically enhance the mechanical strength, superhydrophobicity, and photocatalytic activity of the microtubes of Ni-Co alloy."
