MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113771 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'hydro guard - smart iot-based water monitoring and overflow control for reservoirs.'

Inventor(s) include Hitesh Chugh; Arpit Sachdeva; and Reshma.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Hydro Guard system is an innovative IoT-based automated solution for efficient and reliable water level monitoring and overflow prevention in tanks and reservoirs. Unlike conventional systems that depend on costly ultrasonic or pressure sensors, Hydro Guard employs a software-based time-flow algorithm to estimate water levels using flow rate and time parameters. An ESP32 microcontroller acts as the intelligent control unit, predicting potential overflow and activating a relay-controlled solenoid valve to discharge precise water volumes. The system supports manual input and override through a 4 4 keypad and provides real-time alerts via SMS or mobile notifications. Compact, cost-effective, and energy-efficient, Hydro Guard ensures continuous, sensor-free operation with minimal maintenance. Its scalable architecture and future IoT integration make it ideal for smart, automated water resource management applications."
