According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a hybrid solar drying system designed for efficient drying of agricultural commodities such as pepper, seeds, spices, fruits, and herbs. The system consists of a fully insulated drying chamber covered with a transparent glass panel that allows solar radiation to enter the chamber and generate heat through the greenhouse effect during daytime. When solar radiation becomes insufficient due to cloudy weather, rainy conditions, or nighttime, an auxiliary halogen bulb heating system powered by solar photovoltaic energy and battery storage automatically provides additional heat. The system incorporates temperature and humidity sensors connected to a microcontroller that continuously monitors drying conditions and controls the auxiliary heating system. The drying chamber includes a slanted glass surface that enables condensed moisture to flow toward a collection tray positioned at the lower end of the chamber, thereby removing moisture without ventilation openings. The proposed hybrid solar dryer significantly reduces drying time compared to conventional methods; for example, pepper that typically requires approximately three days for drying using traditional sun drying methods can be dried within approximately one day using the proposed system. The invention provides an energy-efficient, compact, and low-cost solution for controlled drying of agricultural products."
