MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531130351 A) filed by Asansol Engineering College, Asansol, West Bengal, on Dec. 22, 2025, for 'hybrid smart air conditioner with dynamic heat rejection and integrated atmospheric water harvesting.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ramesh Prasad Sah; and Dr. Ashes Maji.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a Hybrid Smart Air Conditioner that fundamentally integrates a dynamic heat rejection module with an atmospheric water harvesting unit. The system intelligently employs a smart control system utilizing AI and sensor inputs to dynamically switch between air-cooled, water-cooled, evaporative, and hybrid rejection modes, optimizing the system's power consumption and achieving a significant reduction in electricity usage. Concurrently, the integrated unit captures and filters condensate water and atmospheric moisture, which is subsequently reused in the system's cooling circuit or supplied externally as potable water. This invention thus provides an innovative, scalable, and water-sustainable cooling solution suitable for enhancing energy efficiency in residential, commercial, and industrial thermal management applications."
