MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541126604 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 14, 2025, for 'hybrid machine learning system for urban air quality prediction.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Lokeshkumar Ramasamy; Mr. Yashwanth Kasanneni; Mr. Rishit Routhu; and Mr. Harish P.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a hybrid machine learning system for urban air quality prediction. The system includes a data preprocessing module configured to receive air quality data including pollutant concentrations and generate preprocessed data through cleaning, Air Quality Index calculation, encoding, and normalization. A hybrid modeling module includes models integrating Convolutional Neural Networks with Random Forest Regression and Support Vector Regression, and Long Short-Term Memory networks with Random Forest Regression and Support Vector Regression. A nature-inspired optimization module includes Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization optimizers configured to optimize Extreme Gradient Boosting model hyperparameters. An evaluation module assesses model performance using Mean Squared Error, Root Mean Square Error, Mean Bias Error, and coefficient of determination metrics."
