MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641018064 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 18, for 'hybrid machine learning system for real-time electric vehicle range estimation.'
Inventor(s) include Ashish Al Rashid; Adharsh Narayana S; and Dr. P. Suresh Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a hybrid electric vehicle range estimation system (2100) including a data acquisition module (2102) configured to collect real-time telemetry data from electric vehicle sensors including speed and state of charge, a machine learning module (2118) having a bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory network (2120) configured to process sequential telemetry data and extract temporal features capturing driving behavior and environmental dynamics and a gradient boosting component (2122) configured to process non-linear relationships between telemetry parameters, a hybrid model (2124) configured to combine outputs from the bidirectional LSTM network (2120) with original telemetry features for the gradient boosting component (2122), a real-time inference engine (2126) configured to generate range predictions using the hybrid model (2124), and wherein the system (2100) calculates standard deviation of speed for each 1% SOC drop to quantify driving behavior patterns and aggressiveness metrics."
