MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122091 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'hybrid machine learning system for crop yield prediction.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Jabanjalin Hilda J; Mr. Karthik Madhu; and Ms. Seanna Seirah Jacob.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a computer-implemented method for crop yield prediction. The method receives agricultural input data including satellite imagery, climate data, and structured agricultural parameters. The method extracts spatial features from the satellite imagery using a convolutional neural network (FIG. 2). The method processes temporal sequences of the climate data using a long short-term memory network to capture temporal dependencies. The method processes the structured agricultural parameters using an ensemble learning algorithm. The method fuses features extracted from the convolutional neural network, the long short-term memory network, and the ensemble learning algorithm into a unified feature representation. The method generates crop yield predictions using a neural network regression module (FIG. 2) that receives the unified feature representation. The method computes explainability values for individual feature contributions to the crop yield predictions."
