MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133494 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'hybrid interlocking paverblocks using industrial waste and natural fibre.'

Inventor(s) include A. Manikandan.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention disclosed hybrid interlocking paver blocks comprising of a cementitious matrix with waste foundry sand reinforced with banana fibre and enhanced by mineral admixture metakaolin for proper binding. The blocks feature the geometry of zig-zag pattern as per the IS specifications recommended for most of the rural and semi urban works. The blocks also feature optimized interlocking geometries and internal reinforcement system that synergistically enhances compressive, flexural and impact strength. The invention provides a sustainable durable and cost-effective paving solution for pedestrian and vehicular applications for medium loads."
