MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122921 A) filed by Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute Of Science And Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'hybrid energy-harvesting ai combat helmet with predictive power management architecture.'
Inventor(s) include Dr G. Mariammal; S. P. Chokkalingam; and P. Yogesh.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a hybrid energy-harvesting combat helmet designed to provide sustained electrical power to artificial intelligence processors, sensors, communication modules, and augmented-reality displays used in battlefield operations. The helmet integrates a flexible solar harvesting layer on the exterior of a ballistic shell and at least one curved piezoelectric beam positioned within the interior contour to convert mechanical deformation into electrical energy. A predictive power management module receives inputs from the harvesting units and forecasts subsystem power requirements to dynamically allocate energy among the solar source, piezoelectric source, and a rechargeable battery. A mechanically integrated attenuating and damping structure protects the piezoelectric elements while preserving ballistic performance. The system enables continuous, self-sustaining operation of onboard electronics, significantly extending mission endurance and reducing dependence on external charging infrastructure."
