MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122236 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'hybrid cnn-transformer system for skin disease classification.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Adaline Suji R; Mr. Abhishek Gupta; and Ms. Rishika Sahoo.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a computer-implemented method for skin disease classification that processes digital dermatological images by extracting local features from the dermatological images using a convolutional neural network component, capturing global contextual information from the dermatological images using a Vision Transformer component, combining the local features and the global contextual information to generate fused features, and generating skin disease classifications based on the fused features. The system includes a convolutional neural network component configured to extract local features from dermatological images, a Vision Transformer component configured to capture global contextual information from the dermatological images, a feature fusion module configured to combine the local features and the global contextual information to generate fused features, and a classification component configured to generate skin disease classifications based on the fused features."
