MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123277 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'hybrid cfrp-aluminum chassis for ev two-wheeler crashworthiness.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. K. Prabu; and Mr. Jayachandran T.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An electric two-wheeler chassis is disclosed employing a hybrid frame in which carbon-fiber-reinforced-polymer members are located along load paths that benefit from progressive crushing, while aluminum members are arranged peripherally to deform plastically and shield a centrally mounted battery. A coupling interface sequences adhesive bonding and mechanical fastening to share loads and delay delamination, and crush-initiator features trigger stable bending. The architecture is validated by explicit finite-element analysis across frontal, side and oblique impacts, targeting reduced peak acceleration and limited intrusion for occupant safety. The design improves energy absorption and structural integrity with low mass and is compatible with standard manufacturing and regulatory requirements."
