MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024915 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'hole carving device for wooden workpiece.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A hole carving device for wooden workpiece, comprising a housing 1 installed with a platform 2 for accommodating a wooden workpiece, a screen 3 to give input commands regarding locations at which holes are to be carved on the workpiece, along with selecting shape and dimensions of the hole, an imaging unit 4 for detecting dimensions of workpiece, plurality of motorized sliders 5 for translating and positioning clamps 6 for gripping workpiece, a telescopically operated gripper 8 for accessing chamber 7 to fetch one of the bits and engage the bits with a motorized wood router 9, a motorized two-axis lead screw arrangement 11 configured between the ceiling portion and rod 10 in view of aligning the wood router 9 over the user-defined location of the workpiece and a speaker 12 for notifying the user to collect the workpiece."
