MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611000232 A) filed by Government Institute Of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Jan. 2, for 'holding device for assisting a user to grasp an article.'
Inventor(s) include Dr Rupali Kalsi; Dr. Rakesh Kumar Gupta; and Dr Mohit Mathur.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a holding device for assisting a user to grasp an article. The holding device comprises a hollow member having a longitudinal receptacle sized to receive a handle portion of the article, an elastic liner disposed within the longitudinal receptacle and adapted to frictionally retain the handle portion when inserted therein, and a hand grip coupled to the hollow member, the hand grip comprising a plurality of finger apertures arranged to receive respective fingers of the user to enable secure holding of the hollow member. The holding device enables users with limited or impaired hand function to retain and manipulate various handheld articles such as brushes or spoons without requiring continuous gripping effort."
