MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511125972 A) filed by Parijat Industries (India) Limited, New Delhi, on Dec. 12, 2025, for 'high-yield, scalable preparation of 5-tert-butyl-3-(2,4- dichloro-5-prop-2-ynoxyphenyl)-1,3,4- oxadiazol-2-one via improved alkoxylation of oxadiazon-hydroxy.'

Inventor(s) include Shivraj Anand; and Uday Raj Anand.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to the field of chemical process development, particularly to a high-yield and scalable method for preparing 5-tert-butyl-3-(2,4-dichloro-5-prop-2-ynoxyphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-one of formula (I), an herbicidal compound. The invention also provides an improved alkoxylation process for converting oxadiazon-hydroxy compound of formula (II) into the desired product of formula (I). The process allows efficient isolation and purification of the final compound through solvent-based workup and crystallization, affording an off-white solid with high chemical purity. The disclosed methodology provides a simple and reproducible route offering overall advantageous yields for both key steps."
