MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517064916 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on July 8, for 'high-strength steel sheet for hydrogen-transporting steel pipes, method for manufacturing same, and hydrogen-transporting steel pipe.'
Inventor(s) include Izumi Daichi; Imayama Hikaru; Nishihara Yoshihiro; Okano Hiroshi; and Shimamura Junji.
The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The purpose of the present invention is to provide a high-strength steel sheet for hydrogen-transporting steel pipes that has excellent fracture toughness and high tensile strength in a high-pressure hydrogen environment. The purpose of the present invention is to also provide a hydrogen-transporting steel pipe using said high-strength steel sheet for hydrogen-transporting steel pipes. The high-strength steel sheet for hydrogen-transporting steel pipes has a specific component composition. At a sheet-thickness center position of the steel sheet, the area ratio of the TD//{001} crystal plane, TD being the direction normal to a side surface of the steel sheet during rolling, is 10% or lower and the MA constituent is 5% or lower in terms of surface area ratio. The tensile strength of the sheet is 625 MPa or greater."
The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 16, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/037428.
