MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647025249 A) filed by The Regents Of The University Of California, Oakland, U.S.A., on March 3, for 'high-performance barrier or optical materials by programming entropy-driven nanosheet growth.'
Inventor(s) include Xu, Ting; Vargo, Emma; and Ma, Le.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Nanocomposite materials comprising nanoparticles, small molecules, and block copolymer (BCP)-based supramolecules are provided. The nanoparticles, small molecules, and BCP-based supramolecules self-assemble into a plurality of nanosheets that form the multilayer nanocomposite material. The nanoparticle, small molecule, and BCP-based supramolecule can be ZrO2, 3-pentadecylphenol (PDP), polystyrene-block-poly(4-vinyl pyridine)(PDP)1, respectively. Methods for producing the nanocomposite materials by contacting the nanoparticles, small molecules, and BCP-based supramolecules with a solvent and drying to remove the solvent to allow self-assembly are also provided. The nanocomposite materials provided herein can be used as barrier materials against volatile organic compounds, water, oxygen, or electron, and can be used as coating and packaging materials on various substrates, or as optical materials."
The patent application was internationally filed on Aug. 09, 2024, under International application No.PCT/US2024/041816.
