MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517073294 A) filed by Xbiotech Inc., Vancouver, Canada, on Aug. 1, for 'herpes zoster treatment.'

Inventor(s) include Simard, John; and Shivaswamy, Sushma.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Antibodies that target VZV glycoprotein E (gE) bind to recombinant gE with high affinity, bind to gE on the surface of VZV infected cells, interact with immune system effectors (e.g., Fc receptors), mediate antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) as well as Antibody Dependent Cellular Phagocytosis (ADCP), and prevent VZV infection of cells."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 31, 2024, under International application No.PCT/CA2024/050116.
