According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a biodegradable herbal wound dressing comprising a natural textile substrate infused with turmeric-derived bioactive compounds. The dressing includes a woven or non-woven natural fibre base layer selected from cotton, bamboo fibre or blends thereof, impregnated with a turmeric extract containing curcuminoids providing antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The bioactive composition is integrated within the fibre matrix through a bio-based binding medium to enable sustained release at a wound site. An absorbent wound-contact layer maintains moisture balance and promotes hygienic healing conditions. The herbal bandage provides inherent antimicrobial activity without the use of synthetic chemical agents, improves skin compatibility, and reduces dependency on separate antiseptic applications. The dressing is biodegradable, eco-friendly, and suitable for medical, first-aid, and healthcare textile applications."
