MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621005726 A) filed by Sarika Sapan Parekh, Vadodara, Gujarat, on Jan. 20, for 'herbal and traditional indian medicine for the treatment of cardiovascular complications in diabetes mellitus.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a novel, stable, synergistic polyherbal composition comprising standardized extracts of selected medicinal plants, namely Terminalia arjuna (Arjuna bark), Gymnema sylvestre (Gurmar leaves), Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha root), Allium sativum (Garlic bulb), and Curcuma longa (Turmeric rhizome), in a specific, optimized quantitative ratio. The composition exhibits a multi-target therapeutic action by ameliorating hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, oxidative stress, inflammation, and endothelial dysfunction-key pathological drivers of diabetic cardiovascular disease (CVD). The invention also discloses a standardized process for the extraction and formulation of the said composition into suitable pharmaceutical dosage forms such as tablets, capsules, granules, or syrups. The claimed composition is effective in reducing the risk and progression of atherosclerosis, diabetic cardiomyopathy, and hypertension associated with diabetes mellitus."
