MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025943 A) filed by Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 5, for 'helmet-local behavioral safety control and autonomous emergency escalation system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. M. Thangamani; Mr. V. Govarthan; Mr. B. Dinesh; Mr. R. Rakesh; and Ms. A. S. Arjitha.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Helmet-Local Behavioral Safety Control and Autonomous Emergency Escalation System A helmet-local behavioral safety and emergency escalation system for two-wheeler riders is disclosed. The system is fully contained within a helmet shell and operates indc]Jendcntly of vehicle ignition, throttle, or braking systems. It includes an inertial measurement module, an impairment data interface, and n stability computation module configured to derive a continuous Head-Motion Stability Index representing rider motion quality. A behavioral control module generates non-periodic, bounded haptic feedback through a haptic actuator in an impairment-aware mode to discourage unstable riding behavior without distracting the rider. An impact detection and posture monitoring module. combined with a head-presence detection module, detem1ines whether the helmet is worn during an event. Upon detecting an impact followed by rider unresponsiveness, a confirmation and escalation module initiates autonomous emergency communication. A communication module transmits alerts to predefined contacts or emergency services, while a manual input interface enables rider acknowledgment. A controller coordinates system operation using helmet-resident power, enabling continuous safety monitoring and reliable emergency escalation."
