MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611026228 A) filed by Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, Punjab, on March 5, for 'helmet compliance and safe riding assistance system for a two-wheeler vehicle.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A helmet compliance and safe riding assistance system for a two-wheeler vehicle 103, comprising a helmet detection unit 101 to detect the presence of a helmet, verify correct helmet positioning over a rider's head, monitor strap engagement, and detect improper helmet usage, a multi-stage warning and escalation unit to provide progressive alerts through audible, haptic, and mechanical feedback, and to progressively restrict vehicle 103 operation including throttle control and engine power in cases of helmet non-compliance, a guided safe stop arrangement to detect a safe stopping location, apply controlled steering assistance, progressively decelerate the vehicle 103, and execute ignition shutdown until the vehicle 103 reaches a complete stop, a speaker 104 to provide progressive audible alerts upon detection of helmet non-compliance, and a plurality of haptic motors 105 to provide vibration feedback proportional to the warning stage."
