MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122188 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'healthcare recommendation system using retrieval-augmented generation with biobert.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. P. Baskaran; Mayank Shekhar Raj; Siddharth Khandelwal; and Avantika Mishra.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system for personalized healthcare recommendations. The system includes a query processing module configured to receive natural language medical queries from users, a BioBERT embedding module configured to generate dense vector embeddings from the medical queries using a BioBERT model trained on biomedical literature, a document indexing module configured to maintain a searchable index of medical documents using vector embeddings, a vector similarity search module configured to identify relevant medical documents based on similarity between query embeddings and document embeddings, and a response generation module configured to synthesize healthcare recommendations using a generative language model that processes the retrieved medical documents. The system enables accurate retrieval of medical information through domain-specific embeddings and provides contextually relevant healthcare responses through integration of retrieval and generation components."
