MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006596 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 31, 2024, for 'handheld shading device for rain.'
Inventor(s) include Ramandeep Singh Deorda; Ravinder Singh; Sukhnik Singh; and Prabhdeep Singh.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A handheld shading device for rain comprises of an elongated extendable body 1 having a first and second portion, the first end is attached with a handle 2 to be gripped by a user, a strap to secure the user's hand with the handle 2, a motorized circular slider 4 for rotating the links 8 away from each other in view of deploying the sheet to provide a shade to the user from rain, a camera 5 for detecting the user's height to extend or retract for positioning the members 3 at an optimum distance from the user's head portion, a motorized circular sliding unit 7 equipped with telescopically operated links 8 to extend for providing a support to the members 3, an anemometer 10 to detect wind speed in surroundings, and a set of curved-shaped extendable unit 9 to extend for discarding the rain water away from the user."
