MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023995 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 26, 2024, for 'handheld ice layer removing device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A handheld ice layer removing device, comprises of a conical shaped hollow bod configured with a handle 2 being gripped to move the body 1 over a surface layered with ice, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 4 to determine dimensions of the surface from which ice is to be removed, an inverted L-shaped telescopic rod 5 configured with a motorized clamping unit 6 to grip the periphery for securing the body 1 with surface, a water reservoir 7 configured over the body 1 and linked with a chamber 8 arranged within the body 1 by means of a conduit 9 to dispense water into the chamber 8, a peltier unit to heat the water and produce steam, an electronic nozzle to dispense steam on the ice for melting the ice and motorized ball and socket joint to move body 1 on the ice for removal of the ice."
