MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010760 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 15, 2024, for 'handheld food serving assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A handheld food serving assistive device, comprising a circular platform 1 carved with a set of slots 2 for securely handle the platform 1, a disc 3 is installed over platform 1 via a pair of telescopically operated rod for placing utensils, a laser acuity sensor for detecting diameter of user's finger, a motorized iris lid for gripping the user's fingers in a secured manner, a touch enabled screen 6 installed with the disc 3 for selecting type of utensils, an expandable pulley arrangement 8 for accommodating the user-selected type and number of utensils, a weight sensor detecting weight of utensils, a microphone 9 positioned on the platform 1 to give voice commands, a pair of motorized hinges 10 configured between the rods 4 and platform 1 for tilting the rods 4, and a pressure sensor for detecting pressure applied by lid over the user's fingers."
