MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411004058 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 19, 2024, for 'hand-held wire taping device.'

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A hand-held wire taping device, comprising a circular shaped platform 1 develop to be held by user at certain height, a weight sensor assembled on platform 1 for detecting placement of roll on platform 1, a pneumatic pin 3 arranged on platform 1 for extending to secure roll on platform 1, a laser sensor assembled on platform 1 for detecting thickness of wire, a motorized iris lid 4 arranged inside hole for closing to grip wire inside hole, a microphone 5 assembled on platform 1 for enabling user to provide input regarding wrapping of wire, a motorized bearing 6 for providing rotational motion to platform 1, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 7 mounted on platform 1 for capturing images of roll, an inverted L-shaped telescopic pin 8 arranged on handle 2 for extending to scratch free-end and a robotic gripper 9 for gripping and engaging free-end on wire."
