MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411019727 A) filed by Sanskriti University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on March 17, 2024, for 'hand-held fruits and vegetable washing device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Meenakshi Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A hand-held fruits and vegetable washing device, comprising a frame 1 having two handle 12 gripped by user to held frame 1 at an optimum height, a cylindrical shaped member 3 attached with frame 1 in which fruits/vegetables are filled, a meshed sheet separates debris from fruits, an electronic nozzle 5 connected with a water reservoir 6 for dispensing water on vegetables/ fruits, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 7 determines presence of dirt on fruits or vegetables, a tumbler mixed arrangement 8 configured between member 3 and frame 1 for providing swivel motion to member 3 for cleaning of dirt, an optical sensor detects ripeness of fruits or vegetable, a robotic gripper 9 for withdrawing un-ripened or rotten fruits or vegetables, a moisture sensor detects moisture on fruits or vegetables, and an air blower 11 dries fruits or vegetables by blowing air on fruits or vegetables."
