MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411007022 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 2, 2024, for 'hand-held chain cleaning device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Manjit Singh; Gurkirat Singh; and Himanshu Bagri.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A hand-held chain cleaning device, comprising a cylindrical shaped body 1 positioned by a user on a chain by means of a handle 2, a laser sensor detecting width of the chain according to which an inbuilt microcontroller actuates a motorized sliding arrangement 3 altering width of the body 1, a touch sensor mapped on the body 1 for detecting contact of the chain with the body 1, multiple motorized iris lid 4 arranged on the body 1 for opening followed by actuation of multiple pneumatic bristles 5 arranged inside the body 1 for extending out of the body 1, an optical sensor mapped on the body 1 for detecting presence of debris and/or dirt on the chain, a chamber 7 for storing lubricant solution, an electronic nozzle 8 attached with the chamber 7 for applying the solution on the chain."
