MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531017995 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on Feb. 28, for 'gripping assistive device for knife.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Abinash Mahapatro.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A gripping assistive device for knife, comprising of an elongated body 101 configured with a pair of rectangular members, developed to be positioned over blade of a knife, a microphone 102 receives voice command of the user, a microcontroller processes the voice command of the user, an ultrasonic sensor detects the thickness of the blade, pair of motorized hinges tilts the members towards the blade, a pair of cylinders 103 arranged with a pair of pistons applies additional pressure to cut rigid materials via blade, an electronic nozzle 105 dispense mixture of air and inflammation fuel for pre-set time, a speaker 106 notifies the user of the pressure on the handle 104, imaging unit 107 captures images of the handle 104, an electric spark generation unit ignite the mixture resulting in movement of the blade."
