MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003462 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 17, 2024, for 'gravity-powered electrical energy generation system.'

Inventor(s) include Annkit Sarkar; Rohit Kumar Prasad; and Tanishqa Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A gravity-powered electrical energy generation system, comprises of a set of columns (14) of different dimensions, each installed with a pair of primary pulleys (1) coiled with a roller cable chains (3), wherein free-ends of chains (3) attached with a permanent weight (4) initially positioned in balanced state, a linear actuator (11) configured with each of the primary pulleys (1) for locking motion of primary pulleys (1) in view of preventing sudden motion of weights upon addition of toggling weights (6), a robotic arm (5) installed in between columns (14) for introducing and interchanging toggling weights (6) and plurality of gears (9) meshed with cable chains (3) each having first shaft (13) installed with column (14) and a movable shaft (10) coupled with shaft of an AC generator, for generating electricity that is stored in an energy storage unit associated with the system."
