MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511114947 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Nov. 21, 2025, for 'gps-based dynamic speed limiter for vehicles.'

Inventor(s) include Simran; Tapish Chahera; Parteek Batheja; and Pradyuman Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A GPS-based dynamic speed limiter for vehicles configured to autonomously enforce zone-specific speed limits using onboard GPS and geo-fence data. The system determines the vehicle's real-time geographic position and applies the corresponding speed restriction through controlled actuation of the throttle or motor drive using a Pulse Width Modulated signal. It operates completely offline, featuring input filtering, driver alerts, manual override, and fail-safe architecture. The invention offers a compact, low-cost, and retrofittable solution for improving vehicular safety and compliance with speed regulations, with scalability for integration into intelligent transportation networks."
