MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020069 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 18, 2024, for 'glass workpiece cutting assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Avinav Pathak; Sumika Jain; Vijay Maheshwari; and R. P. Agarwal.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A glass workpiece cutting assistive device, comprises of a platform 1 positioned on a ground surface, a camera 8 to detect diameter and length of a glass workpiece, an expandable ring 4 for enabling the user to insert glass workpiece within ring 4, a touch enabled screen 5 accessed by user to input commands regarding length at which glass workpiece is to be cut, then, the camera 8 to determine correct positioning of the workpiece, a pneumatic pin 9 to extend at point of glass workpiece is to be cut, an L-shape extendable pipe 10 to extend and position multiple valve 11 at free end of pipe 10 at point where glass workpiece is to be cut for transferring ignitable gas from a gas chamber 12 towards the workpiece and the ignitor to ignite the gas resulting in cutting of the workpiece."
