MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202547058678 A) filed by Qualcomm Incorporated, San Diego, on June 18, for 'geofencing for satellite communication in the absence of terrestrial networks.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An example method of geofencing for satellite communication performed by a UE, the method comprising obtaining a first region file comprising a plurality of regions, wherein each region of the plurality of regions is represented by one or more geo-polygons, wherein each region of the plurality of regions corresponds to a respective unique region identifier, and obtaining a first restriction status file comprising restriction status information regarding each region of the plurality of regions. The method further comprises receiving, from a server, a second restriction status file comprising a second set of region identifiers and corresponding restriction status information, determining a difference between the first set of region identifiers and the second set of region identifiers, and updating the first region file, the first restriction status file, or both based on the difference."
