MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521090636 A) filed by Prof. Hemant Wamanrao Deshpande; Dr. Shailendra Dilipkumar Katke; Dr. Madan Shridharrao Pendke; and Dr. Pravin Sharadchandra Kapse, Parbhani, Maharashtra, on Sept. 23, 2025, for 'functional synbiotic yogurt with prebiotic encapsulated probiotics and manufacturing process thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Prof. Hemant Wamanrao Deshpande; Dr. Shailendra Dilipkumar Katke; Dr. Madan Shridharrao Pendke; and Dr. Pravin Sharadchandra Kapse.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a functional synbiotic yogurt and more particularly to Functional synbiotic yogurt with prebiotic encapsulated probiotics and manufacturing process thereof. A Functional synbiotic yogurt with prebiotic encapsulated probiotics comprising a milk based fermented matrix with a seed inoculum; an additional multi-strain probiotic component comprising plurality of microbial strains that come from Lactobacillus species; and a novel prebiotic component encapsulating the probiotic component, wherein the functional symbiotic yogurt has viability of 1.7 x 109 CFU/gm of probiotic cells for four weeks of storage period. The process for preparation of functional synbiotic yogurt includes preparing a fermented milk matrix with seed inoculum & prebiotic; preparing additional probiotic culture; modifying prebiotic by enzyme hydrolysis; encapsulating the probiotics with the novel prebiotic and adding them to yogurt. The end product has synbiotic functionality."
