MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025984 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'fruits/ vegetables slicing assistive device.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A fruits/ vegetables slicing assistive device comprises of, a platform 1 configured with multiple rod 3s that provides support to the platform 1 on a ground surface, a circular slot crafted on the platform 1 for accommodating multiple fruits/ vegetables that is required to be sliced, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 is installed on the platform 1, to detect dimensions of the accommodated fruits/ vegetables, an inverted L-shaped telescopic rod 3 installed on the platform 1 for positioning a circular ring 4 configured with the rod 3 over the accommodated fruits/ vegetables, multiple expandable flap 5 are oriented around the ring 4 to cover the top portion of fruits/ vegetables by forming a concave shaped structure, a thermal camera installed on the structure for detecting presence of insects and worms inside the fruits/ vegetables."
