MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012468 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 21, 2024, for 'four-wheeler vehicle de-boarding assistive device for physically handicapped person.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A four-wheeler vehicle de-boarding assistive device for physically handicapped person, comprises of a first and a second circular platform 1, 2 configured with each other via a set of springs 3, a physically handicapped user accesses the second platform 2 to accommodate, a touch sensor positioned on the second platform 2 to detect accommodation of user over second platform 2, an air compressor to inflate an inflatable member for providing comfort to the user, a microphone 6 accessed by the user to provide voice commands for de-boarding the vehicle, a camera 7 to detect exact location of the nearest door of the vehicle, a circular motorized slider 8 configured between springs 3 and first platform 1 to position legs of user towards the door and a curved-shaped extendable plate 5 to extend and allow the user to use the plate 5 as support for de-boarding from the vehicle."
