MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641062228 A) filed by Jss Academy Of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, Karnataka, on May 16, for 'formulation of simarouba glauca leaf antimicrobial mouthwash.'

Through a synergistic system of 0.5% Tween-20 and 4% Mannitol, the formulation effectively solubilizes hydrophobic triterpenoids without ethanol. Standardized via RP-HPLC for consistent phytochemical potency, the mouthwash demonstrates antimicrobial efficacy against Streptococcus mutans superior to 0.2% chlorhexidine. Pilot clinical trials confirm a 25.7% reduction in plaque scores with high user acceptability. Validated for physical and chemical stability over six months, this invention provides a cost-effective, shelf-stable, and safe herbal alternative for daily oral hygiene and gingival health."
