MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202644048326 A) filed by Nandini A Pattanashetti; Dr. Srilatha Y; Babitha K; Manoj C; Prajwal K; and Dayananda Sagar Academy Of Technology And Management, Bangalore, Karnataka, on April 16, for 'formulation of an eco-friendly bio-adhesive from lantana camara and aquatic plant biomass.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a two-component eco-friendly bio-adhesive system derived from Lantana camara and aquatic plant biomass. The system comprises a dry powder adhesive composition (Component A) and an aqueous activator (Component B), which are stored separately to enhance stability and shelf life. Upon mixing, the components interact to form a viscous adhesive suitable for various bonding applications. The invention enables on-demand activation, thereby preventing premature degradation and eliminating the need for toxic organic solvents or chemical preservatives. The adhesive can be rehydrated using water at ambient temperature without requiring external heating and retains effective bonding strength after rehydration. The system is biodegradable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly. It is particularly suitable for applications in paper bonding, packaging materials, wood adhesion, and other domestic and light industrial uses where non-toxic and renewable adhesive solutions are desired."
