MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511124480 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 10, 2025, for 'footprint log mat-pressure-sensitive doorstep mat.'
Inventor(s) include Shaman Sharma; and Dr. Deepak Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Footprint Log Mat is a passive, pressure-sensitive doorstep mat designed to document courier deliveries and visitor presence without electricity, cameras, or digital systems. The mat incorporates a pressure-reveal top layer using color-change polymers that temporarily display partial footprints upon stepping. An optional thermochromic time strip provides a fading color indicator to estimate when the footprint was created, while an anti-fraud imprint zone captures distinctive sole textures for authenticity verification. The mat automatically resets within 10-30 minutes as impressions fade, enabling continuous reuse with no cleaning or maintenance. Constructed with durable, weather-resistant, and washable materials, the system operates silently, remains visually discreet, and withstands over 500 impressions. The disclosed invention offers an affordable, tamper-resistant, and reliable solution for confirming doorstep deliveries in households, offices, hostels, and rural or low-infrastructure environments lacking access to electronic surveillance."
