MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541092345 A) filed by Presidency University, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Sept. 26, 2025, for 'foot-operated compact desalination apparatus for potable water generation.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Nandakishora Y; and Dr. Vijaykumar G.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Foot-Operated Compact Desalination Apparatus for Potable Water Generation The desalination apparatus (100) offers a self-sufficient potable water solution for remote coastal and island communities. Seawater is manually pressurized via a foot pump (1) and pre-filtered through sand and activated carbon (2) to remove impurities. A reverse osmosis membrane (3) then separates salt ions, yielding purified water stored in a dedicated reservoir (4) for immediate use."
