MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617009267 A) filed by Danfoss A/S, Nordborg, Denmark, on Jan. 29, for 'flow control valve, for example expansion valve for a refrigeration system.'

Inventor(s) include Petersen, Hans Kurt.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Flow control valve of pressure-balanced piston type with mechanical fail-save function, equalization passage, and equalization pilot valve The present invention relates to a flow control valve (1; 100), for example an expansion valve for a refrigeration system, of pressure-balanced piston type and with a mechanical fail-safe functionality The valve (1; 100) comprises a valve body (10), a piston (60), and a valve drive (30) for controlling fluid flow from a fluid inlet (11) to a fluid outlet (15) through a valve seat (13) by displacing the piston (60) with regard to the valve seat (13). The piston (60) protrudes with a drive-side end portion (61) into a balancing chamber (20) and includes an equalization passage (70) with a first flow resistance. In order to provide the valve (1; 100) cost-efficiently with a reliable fail-safe functionality, it comprises a fluid bleed (25) from a inlet pressure chamber (12) and/or the fluid inlet (11) to the balancing chamber (20), wherein the fluid bleed (25) is separate from the equalization passage (70) and has a second flow resistance that is larger than the first flow resistance, and an equalization pilot valve (80) for opening and closing the equalization passage (70)."

The patent application was internationally filed on Sept. 11, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/075371.
