MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441016568 A) filed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on March 7, 2024, for 'flight control mechanism to enable tail boom folding.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Shshidhara T; and Kosuru Ramakrishna.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Proposed invention, a control folding mechanism provided at the juncture (92) of forward and rearward tail boom (93,94) of the rotorcraft. By splitting the control mechanism (95) at said juncture, a four-bar kinematics control mechanism is incorporated. Two control rods, a forward control rod (103) as input and rearward control rod (102) as output connect to the four-bar control mechanism. In order to control the tail rotor blade pitch, the control movement passes through the proposed four-bar kinematics and ensures the same and substantially same control transmission as it was before. Before means, the control mechanism (95) without four-bar control kinematics mechanism. Said forward control mechanism assembly (102) and said rearward control mechanism assembly (103) interfaced by plural of bell-cranks (104,105), a lever (106) and their ends connected pivotably, wherein bell-cranks (104,105) are centrally connected to said brackets (109,110) rotatably."
