MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202434096300 A) filed by Taurus Armas S. A., Sao Leopoldo, Brazil, on Dec. 6, 2024, for 'fixation system for the backstrap of pistol grips.'

Inventor(s) include Magnus, Rodrigo Rizzi.

The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention describes a fixation system for the backstrap of pistol grips, preferably micro-compact pistols. The present invention aims to promote better ergonomics for different users of the same pistol. As each person has different hand dimensions, it is not possible to develop a grip geometry (1) that ensures an ideal hold for everyone, thus, the present invention describes a system that allows the interchangeability of backstraps (3) of different sizes, all of which can be fitted to the pistol's grip (1). To attach the backstrap to the grip, a housing (7) and a tab equipped with at least one through-hole (6) are designed on the grip (1) and a protrusion (10) is arranged on the backstrap, which fits into said housing (7), and holes (8, 9) for a connecting element to be inserted and held in the holes (8, 9) and the through-hole (6)."
