MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122106 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'finite element analysis method for post-fire reinforced concrete columns.'
Inventor(s) include Dr Viswanathan T S; and Mr. Sayan Kanti Roy.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a computer-implemented method (100) for finite element analysis of post-fire reinforced concrete columns. The method (100) includes defining column geometry with dimensions 300 300 3300 mm and reinforcement details (102) including longitudinal bars and transverse stirrups, applying temperature conditions (30 C, 450 C, or 600 C) to determine degraded material properties (108) based on temperature-dependent reduction factors, computing Concrete Damage Plasticity parameters based on Eurocode-2 (110) for modeling nonlinear concrete behavior under thermal degradation, creating a finite element mesh with 40 40 mm element size (114) for numerical discretization, applying loading conditions (118, 120) including eccentric loading with specified eccentricity values where the eccentric loading includes uniaxial or biaxial configurations with eccentricities of 30mm, 60mm, or 90mm, executing non-linear dynamic explicit analysis (122) to simulate structural response under combined thermal and mechanical loading, and generating results (124) including load-deformation curves and compression damage visualization."
