MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611000214 A) filed by Greater Noida Institute Of Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Jan. 2, for 'fingerprint-based biometric authentication system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A fingerprint-based biometric authentication system (100) is disclosed. The system (100) comprising a fingerprint acquisition unit (102) adapted to capture a fingerprint image of a user. The system (100) is configured to receive the captured fingerprint image of the user from the fingerprint acquisition unit (102); preprocess the captured fingerprint image to obtain a normalized fingerprint image; extract fingerprint features from the normalized fingerprint image, the fingerprint features comprising minutiae points, ridge endings, bifurcations, ridge patterns, or a combination thereof; generate a fingerprint feature representation based on the extracted fingerprint features; and match the fingerprint feature representation with stored fingerprint templates to determine an authentication result. The system (100) is reliable, secure, and omits and flags false positive responses."
