MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113117 A) filed by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Nov. 18, 2025, for 'finger clip for ept (electric pulp tester).'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Shikha Jaiswal; and Dr. Sachin Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an extraoral circuit-completion accessory designed for use with an Electric Pulp Tester (EPT). Traditional intraoral lip clips, which are commonly employed to complete the diagnostic circuit, come in direct contact with a patient's saliva and necessitate sterilization after each use. The proposed invention eliminates this need through an external finger clip or conductor plate that the patient can comfortably wear or hold. This extraoral attachment is connected to the EPT device via an insulated wire and allows the diagnostic circuit to be completed externally, without compromising operational integrity. The design promotes hygienic clinical practices, particularly enabling gloved operation by the dental professional, and offers a reusable, cost-effective, and user-friendly alternative to conventional lip clips."
